I just came back from seeing it; it was awesome! Lois was awesome, having Martha be so prominent was awesome, and Faora (?) - this movie had several awesome women, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Dynamic action!Jor-El and Lara, Lara the witness to Krypton's destruction, Lois trotting herself up to the frozen wastelands for her story, Jonathan Kent - for an instant - wondering if saving the busload of kids was the right thing to do.

The soldiers turning aside their guns - we see their faces, and see them choose their actions, and then their commander backs them up. Of course, positive comparison to semi-faceless Kryptonian warriors, but still, a lovely moment.

Clark taking the step he did with Zod. Has that ever happened before in any Supeman canon? But it worked here, felt appropriate and awful at once, and was given the gravity it needed.

The surveillance drone - that scene felt so satisfying.

Lois knows! Lois was not fooled by eyeglasses, Lois smirked and Clark smiled and I grinned like a fool. :)

Yes, I loved it too! The women were excellent. I particularly liked Lara, I think - she was firm and determined in what she did, she and Jor-El were a true partnership, and she got to be an emotional mom without having it completely disable her or ruin everything. Whoo!

Maybe you can help settle a point of confusion between M. and I - I maintain that when Clark killed Zod, he also murdered that family in the corner, because Zod wouldn't close his eyes. Matt just thinks the moral conflict of that scene was in having Superman flat out kill an enemy and the family was sort of window dressing.

(I also think the family was dumber than dumb by not, you know, ducking under the beam or going the freaking other way, but whatever.)

That SMIRK at the end. She knows exactly what she's doing, Lois does. Awesome.

I had some serious qualms myself - the disaster porn was waaaaaay over the top - but ohhhhhh the Lois&Clark relationship hit every.single.button I wanted it to. That KISS, OMG.

How smart and determined was she and then ethical after it all? I think Lois is sometimes portrayed as career-girl-at-all-costs and this one was so marvelously human, in doing stupid things sometimes and smart things sometimes and enormously kind things at others.

They had ill-advised moments all over freaking Metropolis. WONDERFUL chemistry.
