Seriously came 'round the corner and flames were completely enveloping my poor tea kettle. I made an apple bar thingy a few days ago and the drippings spilled over onto the stovetop underneath the burner and I guess they decided it was time to really go for it. And then the fire alarm went off and I had to open the windows and I still wasn't dressed and then the cat wouldn't leave the windows and tried to murder me when I picked him up so I could close them and THEN I went to work. *flop*
I discovered that the burner was on fire, in fact, when the tea kettle started whistling. So yes after I got it put out I did still have hot water for tea. Thankfully. The tea kettle is jet-black now though - hopefully it's just soot and it will clean off easily because it's done good duty and that would be a sad way for it to end.
