I have, and mostly liked it, though I remember finding the characters annoying! Didn't realize sequels were out - I'll have to reread and request those!

Yes! I second the MRK recommendations - almost done with the third and I'll be so sad when it's over.

Wow, if both of you recommend them they HAVE to be good. I've put them on the list!

I had much the same reaction - literally could not remember a thing about what had happened, and on re-read never had a grand epiphany or moment of memory. It just...kept going.

Thanks for the rec - and thank you for the books!

I read Magicians and Mrs. Quent but was sadly disappointed. I had _such_ high hopes for it because the premise sounded like just my thing, but I found the execution uneven and the characters either a) pathetic, b) annoying, or c) both with a dash of angry-making. The plot was as full of holes as moth-eaten lace and I felt like there were places I could see clumsy stitches trying to hold the whole thing together. And yet I have hung on to it because there was a core of potential that kept me reading - some seed of story that I really, really wanted to like. I haven't read the sequels and probably won't, but I kind of hope you do so you can tell me if things get better. :P

see, Jen, you just need to finish YOUR novels so we can all have something well executed to read ;).

Yep pretty much agree with your assessment. I spotted all the problems as I was going along and *yet.* There was still something there that I wanted to like.

I'll give the first sequel a try and report back if it improves on the theme...(kind of doubt it, though)
