Ouch.... When I started training for the operation of Calgary's CTrains, one of the very first things they told us was, "It's not a matter of if you kill someone, but when." Unfortunately, the stats are pretty bad for this sort of thing, which could be why a lot of drivers are reluctant to move to trains. I was fortunate enough to never have an accident like that, but I knew a few drivers who did. Swapping out the driver is definitely one of the keys; You can't very well expect them to just carry on as if nothing happened - particularly if they actually saw the person step out in front of them.

Yeah... again, the guy seems to have done okay, somehow, but one of the conductors was saying 'Yeah, this is my second one this week... we hit a guy on Tuesday'.
