I wish they'd developed the villain more. Toby - er, Richard Schiff - is so awesome. I bet he could do Psycho Bad Guy extremely deliciously but so far we haven't seen much of him.
I totally agree on the GIbbs/Ryan fights - they are waaay more interesting when they're taking shots at each other. She was fierce in that office argument, and even in the zingy kitchen scene. Much more energy and believability than their awkward cuddly moments. If she turns out to be a villain it's possible she will end up being a favorite! (of mine).
I have to say I'm glad they're bringing back Casey Stratton. I thought he was spectacularly creepy when he killed his partner and also in that Gibbs/Stratton interrogation scene earlier in the season. . .
You're right about Richard Schiff's character. They've made his plan out to be threatening, but Dearing himself has been positively harmless and sane whenever he's appeared on screen. (Plus, I only associate Richard Schiff with Toby and other happy things.)
It boggles my mind that Jamie Lee Curtis was only supposed to be on for a couple episodes (in the fall, and then her episodes got moved due to scheduling conflicts) and now she's still here. But much better than her previous appearances.
Huh, didn't know that about Jamie Lee. I keep waiting for both her son and her Evil Ex to be introduced. Surely Gibbs has to rescue her like the macho guy he is before her story arc can be resolved? And what about her interest in Ziva's friend from Colombia? For a bit character Ryan seems to tie in to a lot of different plot threads/concerns. I don't see how they can really resolve them the way they generally like to do on NCIS without going into next season, but who knows?
My favorite part of the whole episode was Tony's to Gibbs: you just smell like someone who . . . isn't . . . you.
ha!
I too am having trouble ascribing any evil motive at all to Toby. But his appearance on the show gives me hope that at some point they will have Alison Janney on too, and in the end she and Agent Donovon - er, Gibbs - will sail away into the sunset together. And then all will be right with the universe.
I'm trying to be the bigger man and reserve my eye rolls until she actually does something annoying, rather than just being generally annoyed by her presence. You be the bigger man, while I continue being small and petty and finding fault with everything Ryan says or does. We're not going to see her again next season, are we?
I was also very distracted by Ziva during the bachelor party scene.

What a disappointment after last week was actually fun.
I honestly don't think the writers even get what IS fun and what's not for viewers.
