A couple of years ago, I got back into collecting baseball cards after having previously abandoned the hobby in high school. that is very cool! great use of the duplicates. is the fun in collecting even though you get lots of dupes? i find i can go on ebay and just buy the entire set, which could end up cheaper than trying to amass a collection.

Yeah, it's admittedly not particularly rational to spend a couple hundred dollars over a few months buying all the packs when you can just drop forty or fifty bucks on a whole set....but it's mostly the nostalgia of ripping open packs and building a set by hand. Plus if you just buy the whole set at once you miss out on the parallel sets and limited edition cards and all the other bells and whistles they have nowadays.

This is already quite awesome, but you haven't yet reached the next level: arranging them in such a pattern as to create a humongous Magic Eye picture of a middle finger. There's still work to be done.

So I guess that's what one does when they're stuck in the thriving metropolis of East Buttplug, NY for an extended period of time...

Seriously, though - this is pretty cool. I was a card collector back in the day, and have a time capsule or two under the stairs. IIRC, there's one that I'm supposed to open in August 2012 (20 years after being sealed). I'm sure the cards are still next to worthless. :-)
