(larp) Points...

Apr 09, 2009 02:18

In a conversation with someone about points on a sheet, I said:

In my experience, points on a sheet only affect two things
1) how big ST plots are
2) how many people come to your boot party

How you roleplay the character affects all the important stuff.

larp, it's all about the roleplay

Not necessarily true either. Sure, if you're talking about a face-to-face combat to the death. But that lacks imagination. There are hundreds of ways to PvP against someone without the end being character death or a fair fight... or even having to be in the same room when the plan goes down.

Rants are way more fun when people are not throwing chops. I can't stand how roleplay in an awesome debate/argument completely dissolves once people have to stand around for 15 minutes while a few people create a time stop because they want to throw punches.

As to whether my sheets size impedes roleplay... well I'd like to think not, but being on this side of my sheet makes me admittedly biased.

The size of my sheet has not interrupted any of my characters from doing anything that they wouldn't do. I've had a five month old Anarch try to kill JS, I've had a Malk that was forty points confront a big Sabbat pack alone, and Alex Pompeii... well Alex survived and brought back someone who was as good as dead from a horrible situation from a group of pretty big Setite Warriors who were Mastery'ing everything into spasming on the ground.

I am good at throwing chops, which may factor in, but I don't let sheet size distract from how my character would behave.
