I'm thinking about buying an XBox 360 next month once I get some money come in. There's a bundle deal for the Elite system that's better than anything else offered, so I'll probably get that

I can't speak for the others but I can say that Mass Effect is one of the best roleplaying games I have ever played. I highly recommend it to anyone that has a 360
You want to take the time to get an alternate controller or an arcade stick or something if you're going to get a fighting game for that system. The 360, which I love, is not a system designed for fighting games at all. Trust me, I also love fighting games.
Halo 3 = Good game, but weaker than the others unless your main desire is the multi-player.
Fable 2 = Fuck Fable. But I was one of those waiting for years upon years for the first one. The entire thing is a disappointment to me.
Jade Empire = Great story, only downfall is that it doesn't last as long as you'd like.
M.U.A. = Its like Baldur's Gate (for the Xbox, not computer) but with super heros. Great way to waste time with friends.
Mass effect = One of the best RPGs ever. Buy this!
Street Fighter IV = I did not like this one, it seemed slow and klunky. I'd suggest the latest Tekken instead. Mortal Kombat DC was novel and good if you like the series. The falling combat was interesting.
Addition: Bioshock = This game is a FPS with one of the best stories I've ever played. Its a philosophical argument about free will and determinism in a video game format.
Joe is right. Bioshock is fuckign amazing. Also, add Fallout 3. Street Fighter IV is teh suxxor, Mortal Kombat Vs DC is one of the most exploitactic fighting games ever.
Tekken is the way to go for a fighting game. If you aren't really caring about standard fighters, and just want to beat someone up, Fight Night Round 4 is fantastic.
Halo 3 comes with the system, or I'd probably get Call of Duty 4 or another FPS. However, since Halo 3 comes with it, I'll just play that for my FPSing - and I intend to pretty much only play it online multi-player. This eliminates Fallout 3 or BioShock. I'm not a huge FPSer, but I like to have one or two. Maybe down the line I'll pick another one up.
Fable II also comes with the system. It's part of a Game of the Year bundle deal. I can get a 360 Elite with Halo 3 and Fable 2 for the same price as a regular Elite... so they're essentially free.
I'm picking up MUA pretty much to prepare me for MUA2, which all of my friends are planning to buy because they said the first was so fun.
I've never been a fan of the Mortal Kombat series. As far as fighting games go that are still around, I've liked Street Fighter, Tekken, and Dead or Alive. Virtua Fighter was okay, but complicated. I don't like really like 8 button combos to do something spiffy. 1-3 buttons is where I like my game, maybe 4 at most.
