Last weekend was the hardest one I've had in a long time. Been there too many times myself as well. It sucks mightily. Sorry to hear the bad news. You sound like you went above and beyond to do everything for him that could be done, I'd like to think that made a difference to him, too. *hugs*

OH, how sad! I'm so sorry. |^(

I know how it is to lose a beloved feline family member. It's so hard to say good-bye and the feelings of guilt for not catching something sooner or doing something better seems to hit pretty hard, even for an older pet.
