And how about this one? Turns out the health insurance where I work won't cover you for basically anything but routine preventative care for six months if you were not covered for six months with your previous insurance. Not six months from the date you acquired said previous insurance...if you work some place else and have insurance for 5 months, then come work for us, you either pay for a month of COBRA or you get hit for six months without useful coverage here.
Yes, one of my coworkers ran into that. For something she didn't learn until she went to a routine appointment. That had not been delayed due to insurance changes. Luckily her parents were able to help her cover the procedure, which couldn't wait.
Our health care is so messed up.

There are a lot of reasons to be disappointed in the recent health care law, and I wish the pre-existing condition thing was going to be fixed earlier than 2014, but I'm so glad it passed. It's got to be better than what we have.

I am sorry about the health insurance craziness, but pleased that you and baby are okay and will offer an official congrats once I know it's appropriate.
