Can't speak for anyone else, but at least for myself, I'm still participating in the fandom a lot, but I don't post here because I don't really have anything to rant about. Maybe I've just mellowed out a lot regarding stupidity in fandom, maybe I've just regulated myself to only hanging in fandom spaces with friends I trust, IDK.

Also, it may be important to keep in mind that just because people are friends or are sane fans doesn't mean they won't argue! Arguments can pop up between the best of friends.

Of course, I didn't see the H_F deal, so I dunno what that's about. \o_O/

Yeah, and there's that. The prime of the KH fandom was four-five years ago, so all of us are four-five years older than we were, including the people/material that was ranted about. Everything is just...old now.

The heartless fics thing was ridiculously civil.

Person a says something stupid.
Person a is called on it.
Person a apologises with a proper apology that isn't a ridiculous fauxpology.

That is the very definition of civil, it doesn't even constitute as an arguement.

I'll also note, I try to save khffr for when I have kh specific rants. More general rants go straight to ffr.

Could just be that the fandom itself is well past its prime and most fandumb is old news. Ranting about it would just be a broken record. Pointing out "wat" worthy things from tumblr or deviantART privately to friends is as much effort fandumb is really worth anymore, to me. If it's really bad, I just confront the person myself on those sites. This comm isn't really all that necessary.

As for the Heartless Fic thing... If it's what I'm thinking about, I can't say much on that; I only skimmed that stuff via the anonmeme awhile back. Compared to the usual RP wank (KH or otherwise), thaaaat was pretty civil.

I think pretty much all of us have "moved" in some way or another. Be that moved their ranting to other places, moved away from dealing with the woes of fandom (there's only so many times "stop bashing Kairi" can be said), or moved on from the game itself. I know I'm in the latter. Permanently or temporarily is to be determined, but right now I'm just sick of it. I retired my keyblade (...or chakrams. I think I always had chakrams...) last year as I just got tired of game after game after game after game with no mention of when this series was going to move forward. Birth By Sleep was the last straw for me. I don't even know what the hell I'm playing anymore. This doesn't feel like the same game I fell in love with, and there doesn't seem to be any signs of returning to that as I hear yet another game on yet another console is coming out. Yay for adding rounds people have been asking for for years, but it's a little late for some of us. I am absolutely disillusioned.

Maybe when KH3 is release people will come back here? But times are ( ... )

I do hope that when KH3 is released, the fandom gets revitalized. I've only been into KH for about a year. I'd hate for the fandom, as insane as it is, to die.

As for me, part of the reason I've only posted one rant is because I'm not actually surprised by a lot of the stuff fandom does and I know that ranting about it doesn't usually change much. And then there's my tendency to move to different fandoms. It's been a habit of mine for years. I'll get into a fandom, stay in it for awhile, then read or see something about a different fandom and move there. Then I'll see something about the first fandom and go back.

Your comment made me really sad for some reason.

The best time to be in the KH fandom is right when the major titles are released. KHII's release is still the best time I've ever had in a fandom, hands down. I don't doubt KH3 will put a proper spark back into the fandom, but that doesn't look to be any time soon, so the fandom is left to dig up fics from five years ago to spork because that's where all of the "fandom" is, basically ( ... )

I guess that means the fandom is currently in limbo, then.

Not doing rants like you used to isn't necessarily a bad thing. You could say that seeing all the crazy shit in one fandom helps prepare you for seeing it in other fandoms because just about every fandom has them. Plus, while the character bashing/shipping wars/etc. bothered me, it never really got me riled enough to really rant about it unless there was a specific case.

Hopefully when KHIII comes out, it'll get the fires starting in everyone again. We'll just have to wait and see. In the meantime we at least have other fandoms to drive us crazy.
