i love you.

but i think its really frustrating when people judge whites ("rednecks" in particular) and then complain about racism, etc. its completely not fair. there's nothing wrong with trucks, beer and country. it makes people happy. and just because they like trucks, beer and country doesn't mean they're not good, honest, hardworking, conscious people.

its just, bullshit.

The same thing happened to me when I was writing for the paper here. They had me go cover an event out in the middle of nowhere, and I thought I was going to encounter some bad shit. Lots of confederate flags, camo and other such stuff. It was a harley-davidson convention. They turned out to be great people, of course, and I had a blast covering them ( ... )

i disagree. i understand that its important to pay attention to history. i completely agree with that. but its unfair to judge people based on simple things as the kind of things they like to drink and the music they listen to. just as it would be unfair to judge some black teenagers as gangstas just because they happen to listen to hip hop.

is it acceptable for me to think that i'm going to get robbed and gangraped when i'm in a mostly black situation just because there's some history to back it?

to be aware enough that you don't place yourself in potentially dangerous situations, of course, but not to judge people like that.

thats what i was saying el,
that i was the one to judge them initionally and they proved me entirely wrong. i was weary at first because i was going to a minority in a majority group of people who stereotypcially dislike blacks. they proved me totally wrong, we had a blast and they invited me to the neighborhood labor day party.
i never said they wernt honest hardworking people.. i was just saying i was worried about being around them because it was a potentionally uncomfortable situation.
i got you girl :]
