Apologies to all...

Mar 09, 2011 14:20

...I have been going through one of my "offline" periods, where updating a journal (here, on paper, on my iPhone weight watching program), or even being online for chatting has been low on my priority and attention scales....

On the Sunday before Further Confusion, I took a step off a two-step ladder and injured my left knee.  Not a complete ( Read more... )

Many things... niall_shapero March 10 2011, 04:50:48 UTC
You said, "No, Nicolai, I haven't forgotten your commission... but it's been buried under 3 feet of stuff on what's supposed to be my art table." I wasn't bugging you about this; I was hoping that you'd get to it someday, and would let me know when something was done. I've tried other artists, to date, trying to get commissions done where a good deal more effort was expected - I had to put down deposits, which I then had to get back (after a LONG delay and a "I can't do this because of X" type response - long after the commission was accepted of course). So ... I figured that my commission for you would get done or it wouldn't, and it would be nice if it did, and wouldn't be a pain if it wasn't.

OTHER SUNS niall_shapero March 10 2011, 04:54:51 UTC
You said, "The Other Suns project is in one of those buried boxes, patiently waiting for this foster parent to get enough spare cash to clothe it.". If you get to work on things, then you do. If it's buried, well, it's been buried on this end of things too.

I think at this point I'd want to go back and (a) expand certain sections of the rules, and (b) change a few others, based on more experience, a better understanding of the industry (hey, I was a fan back in the early 80s when the bulk of the design was done). I've been trying to do some of those mods (and to correct some of the typos and errors, and omissions) of late, but it's been difficult. My main computer crashed and I've effectively been without a printer since...(now with Tax Time coming up, I haven't got the time to set up the NEW machine ... and so it goes...)

About Other Suns (Part II) niall_shapero March 10 2011, 04:56:48 UTC
What I REALLY miss, to be honest, is your old Partoitan campaign. I'd almost forgotten how much fun I had at the time, but going back over the writeups (VACATION FROM THE WORK A DAY WORLD) and some of my notes from the time brought it all back. I still run games, but I don't really have the opportunity to run in other people's campaigns, and I miss the fun of just PLAYING the game instead of having to do "all that work" to set up a run...

I kinda miss playing *and* running an RPG... schedules here have been off in a way that I haven't found a 'group' to play with. *sigh*

Well, there IS a group that's sort-of local to you, although I'm running it. The "Cyberfur" campaign, as we've been calling it, has been running for the last several years. It's set earlier than the old OS campaign, but it's in the same sort of "universe". If you want to join in, I could always send you a note - and I could send you some of the campaign notes to date, if you could give me your SNAIL-MAIL address again (Book 8 of the notes is something like 2800 pages long and the PDF file is over 10 MB... so e-mail isn't really an option)

And if you were interested in running something, _I_ certainly could be "convinced" to join in the next time I was up in your area...(I do get up there several times a year when I can manage it...)

Other thoughts... niall_shapero March 10 2011, 04:59:21 UTC
You said, "Perhaps in the future I can create some content for a website that would be worthy of a "Donate" button and generate the needed money and interest for that game once again."

Once, you suggested that VACATION might make a good comic. While I can write (or at least, I THINK I can), my artistic talents do NOT include drawing, or graphic novel layouts. Perhaps something along these lines might be a possibility?

I'm glad that you had at least a few rays of sunshine and enjoyed yourself at FC. Sorry to hear about your injury - and may you recover completely RSN (if you haven't already).
