the choir here at PSU is working with Veljo Tormis, who is apparently to Estonia as Bartok was to Hungary. he's asked them to record all his music, in english.

Okay, seriously, you're listening to Estonian New Folk Music...that is insanely awesome and cool! I have new found liking of Amherst now (which is on the list of possible grad schools for me, btw)

Yeah, have you ever heard of them? it's a group called vagilased. it's pretty hit-and-miss, i think, but there's some interesting stuff that they play.

i haven't...a lot of new stuff appeared after i left and a lot of it, from what random bits and pieces i've heard, is um...hit-and-miss, to put it nicely, but i'm sure interesting stuff can be picked out if you know better bands and know what to listen for...i'm still impressed, though...
