There is literally no Constitutional defense for a gay marriage ban. Though some Republicans have apparently been itching to repeal the 14th amendment. You know, the really important one that guarantees equal protection under the law. Gay marriage will probably be legal nationwide within 5 years, probably much sooner now that Kagan is on the Court.

I agree. Gay marriage is one of those things that I know deep down will be legal very soon. I have a feeling in 50 years we'll look back on this issue in a similar way to how we look back on Civil Rights of the 60s, basically in a "Goddamn we were stupid back then" kind of way.
