I thought the point of alcohol was drunkenness. Never have I heard anyone down a scotch and say "yummy".

See, I don't know about that. I've drank scotch before for the taste.

But that's besides the point. What they are talking about it alcohol that you can get a pleasant buzz from and then drink an antidote and drive home safely.

Having a buzz and being drunk are two separate things.
