Pot Roast

I burned it. This is my first time cooking it, and I did it per the recipe in the Better Homes & Gardens cookbook -- but the juices all evaporated and it started burning. Bryce thinks we should order Chinese food, but I am determined to save this roast!!!

Surely you didn't burn the whole thing? It's hard to burn a whole pot roast. Is any of the middle salvagable?

Here's how we do it - buy one of those "Pot Roast in a Bag" kits which are in the dry mix aisle.....stick the meat in the bag with the seasonings and the water with the veggies, tie it up and bake it. Works great :) (and is super easy!)

Just for the future :)

Those bags are great! I use them a lot in the winter. In the summer, when I don't want to turn the oven on, I LOVE my crockpot.

Did you manage to save it?

OK we ordered Chinese. Bryce also informed me that he doesn't like pot roast to begin with. Men. But yeah, the whole thing was kind of nasty tasting, and our house now reeks of burned meat. Good times..

I'm going to look into those bags! I'm trying so hard to be the perfect little Mrs. Suzy Homemaker. Really I am! :)

At least you weren't being told that his mother makes it better and he only likes hers. *grrr* I stopped making it after that.

I feel for you. Chinese sounds so yummy right now, so, I'm jealous too ;)

The best (and only way) I make pot roast is to throw it in a crockpot, pour a bottle of beer on top and turn that sucker on high for about 4 hours. Then low for 1-2 hours.

You're a great woman to even try!
