What part of Japan? I can recommend an absolutely fantastic coffee shop in Kyoto.

I'll be in Tokyo for about a week, then my schedule opens up a bit and I have options. I am considering visiting relatives in Fukuoka if they can accommodate me, and a hot spring. (Hakone and Nagano are the most attractive at the moment.) Alternatively I am investigating a visit to Eiheiji or Sojiji (the main Soto Zen temples), and Kyoto is a possibility, so please do send or post details of the place.

Thanks for the heads-up! I didn't know anything about it, and it looks quite interesting. Milton Keynes is pretty easy for me in terms of travel, and I even have some friends who live near there, so I could make a long weekend holiday out of it. I'll definitely join the community, and work permitting, I think I'll try to go - if so, I hope I'll see you there!
