Then on to Hawaii to visit parents and relatives in Honolulu, and detoxify my body and spirit by spending a week at San Francisco Zen Center. Yes, this was kind of impulsive trip planning, especially for me, but the usual summer Trip'O'Doom was ( Read more... )

What part of Japan? I can recommend an absolutely fantastic coffee shop in Kyoto.

I'll be in Tokyo for about a week, then my schedule opens up a bit and I have options. I am considering visiting relatives in Fukuoka if they can accommodate me, and a hot spring. (Hakone and Nagano are the most attractive at the moment.) Alternatively I am investigating a visit to Eiheiji or Sojiji (the main Soto Zen temples), and Kyoto is a possibility, so please do send or post details of the place.

Hi! *waves from across the North Sea*

This has nothing to do with Japan and Hawaii (and wow, I hope you have a great time - that sounds wonderful) but there's a vidding con being organized in the UK for October, and I thought you would like to know: http://community.livejournal.com/vidukon/2687.html

This is a purely selfish action on my part, because I'd love to see you there. :-)

Thanks for the heads-up! I didn't know anything about it, and it looks quite interesting. Milton Keynes is pretty easy for me in terms of travel, and I even have some friends who live near there, so I could make a long weekend holiday out of it. I'll definitely join the community, and work permitting, I think I'll try to go - if so, I hope I'll see you there!

*toasts Pellew back*

I'm glad you want to go, and I hope we can both make it! It sounds like it could be a lot of fun, and it will give me an excuse to wander around London beforehand and raid the bookshops. :-)
