I know not many people are around here now. I do read, but I see with alarm I haven't posted for 2 years.
However I need somewhere to write things down even if no-one's reading it.

I miss the BBC, and other random things
It's 10.30 at night, I'm mooching around on the internet, and I thought, hey, why don't I post to LJ?

Chores. And bonus books.
Spent 45 minutes this evening out in my garden cutting back what will forever in my mind be 'the bloody Russian vine'. It came with the house and grows over the back garden wall. It has pretty white flowers, but isn't nicknamed 'mile a minute' for no reason. This Guardian article explains why. I've been putting off cutting it back due to laziness ( Read more... ) -
Reading
I spend my lunch hours sitting in the social space at work which has huge windows with a lovely view of the cathedral. Finished Call the Midwife, an interesting read. I'm now working on The Eye of the Leopard by Henning Mankell (the Wallander guy), who I haven't read before. It's an evocative tale of childhood in Sweden and the brutal reality of ( Read more... ) -
Oops - and con excitement
Bah - missed posting yesterday and almost missed today, too. Fail.
Main excitement for today was the posting of the schedule for the Book Track for Nine Worlds in August. I'm very much regretting that I won't be able to get there until late Friday evening, as much is going on during Friday that I'd like to be able to attend. It's going to be one ( Read more... ) -

The plasterer came as promised this morning and did stage 1 of hole repair. He'll do stage 2 on Monday before I leave for work, then come and paint on an evening of my choosing ( Read more... ) -
Orphan Black
I've just watched the season 2 finale of Orphan Black, and have to say that I'm left feeling a little bemused. Is it just me, or was the explanation of what's going on just designed to raise even more questions? And who the heck is everyone and why?

Day 2 and all's well. Except for the hole.
I live in a terraced house, and earlier this year the old lady next door sold up and moved into sheltered accommodation. Her cheap-as-chips house was bought by a property developer who is now gutting it and preparing to instal 5 tenants at £100 a week or more each, and then will sit back and enjoy the proceeds ( Read more... )
