Chores. And bonus books.

Spent 45 minutes this evening out in my garden cutting back what will forever in my mind be 'the bloody Russian vine'. It came with the house and grows over the back garden wall. It has pretty white flowers, but isn't nicknamed 'mile a minute' for no reason. This Guardian article explains why. I've been putting off cutting it back due to laziness ( Read more... )

the Ellison is still one of the creepiest things I have read. There is a video game of it (old stylee) which is creepy and frustrating in equal measure.

I'm thinking I prolly won't buy this bundle as I'm so behind on my reading, even with the prospect of several train journeys in my near future!

I actually have a giant Leylandii at the bottom of the front garden. It's a horrible thing - about 20m tall and probably a local landmark - which is going to give me inordinate pleasure when I chop it down. Brother dear says it makes excellent kindling.

I don't think they sell Russian vine here - we have plenty of imported pests to deal with. I've got used to seeing blackbirds again.

The book site seems very slow so I can't actually find out what any of those books are about, which is a bit unfortunate. Of course I still have a queue of about 10 ebooks waiting for my next long-haul flight (3 weeks away!) to catch up on.

Stay well away from Russian vine. I have to go up the ladder and hack it back every 2-3 weeks and it's really annoying. I spent quite a lot of time last time I was there whippersnipping Cape broom which was taking over FH, and still, you can buy it in garden centres there.

Look forward to leylandii fires!

There are other ways of finding out what the books are about (Amazon?) - or you could just risk it and buy the bundle, which is what I normally do. Since you can pay whatever you want, you're hardly going to lose out and you may discover some new authors into the bargain.
