So, last week, I hopped on a plane to Narita. Upon arriving, I got the NEX to Tokyo Station, and then a Shinkansen to Morioka, where I was a bit flummoxed to find that I'd already missed the last bus to Appi Kogen. I'm actually in Japan until next Monday (10/1/11), and I'll afraid it's straight back into work upon my return. I think I have a free weekend later in January, though. I can check and let you know, and if you're free then, we could maybe meet up?

That sounds like a wonderful place and a great thing to do on holiday. I did a National Trust working holiday last summer myself, and loved it. Do you have a link for the place where you're staying/working?

I arranged everything though WWOOF Japan - http://www.wwoofjapan.com - you are required to register and pay a membership fee to access their list, and then verify with hosts upon arrival. There are a wide range of hosts and places to which you can apply. The place I ended up at is called Pension Mutti, and takes paying guests as well as hosting WWOOFers to augment their regular staff. If you want, I can check their WWOOF code later and let you know.
