New fandom(s) -- and fandom!love at first sight

So, since my internship starts tomorrow (and I'll be out of town with limited internet access for 3 days bc of training), this past week was supposed to be my last opportunity to catch up on quality TV.

Hana yori dango? I've heard it's good, though I never got into either the drama or the anime/manga.

Lol. I haven't watched much Buffy before either, unless you count marathoning all of s6. Cannot judge you.

I really like the Buffy that I've seen so far!!! I just ... fell in love with the other show and marathoned that one instead XD

I've only seen the last two seasons of Buffy which makes most people cry, but I'm not really interested in going back to the earlier seasons right now. As for other shows Nodame Cantabile is fun and cracktastic, although I'm not sure how Nodame stacks up compared to Jan Di when it comes to character development.

And can I even tell you how much I loved (and found interesting!!) the theme that your soulmate and the person you are head-over-heels-for don't have to be the same person. And that the show doesn't judge on that point at all XD

There are SO few series that I have finished watching, and immediately want to rewatch again from the top. This is one of them. &*SUHDSFHSHDF(!!!! <3

Holy crap, 26 hours of BOF! XD YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS BOF♥♥♥ You don't need to have any asian blood to enjoy asian dramas. I can share some of mine, if you want. XDBOF is only the Korean version. It started out as a Japanese manga, Hana Yori Dango. Then Taiwan made it into a drama, Meteor Garden, back in the early 2000s. It was such a humongously huge super massive hit, the F4 officially became a boyband and even had a tour. There seems to be a recurring theme of boybands in the dramas. Japanese Junpyo (Tsukasa) is a boybander irl. So is irl JiHoo (Kim Hyun Joong). Oh god, his acting was so horrible. Oh, and irl Prince Song (Kim Joon), too, but his group is a flop. They sang one theme song for BOF and it was a hit, but they kind of just faded into oblivion after that. irl Jihoo's boyband, SS501, is now disbanded-ish

It has been a constant in my life, BOF/HYD is almost like a childhood friend lolol. I remember my older relatives obsessing over it, then having the other versions to love years later. XD

YOU SHOULD!!! Or you could try out the other versions... (but BOF is the best version, imo, because they've perfected which plotlines to adapt from the manga and which ones to make into their own, considering the cultural differences between the original material, etc...)

Which characters and ships did you like best? :D

I really loved the soulmate-vs-in-love triangle. I happily multiship Jan Di with both of them, but I have a really soft spot for Ji Hoo soooo ... XD

Favorite character? Too many to mention!!!! Besides Ji Hoo (I think he was pretty much in every scene that made me cry, IDEK lol), probably the secretary Jung Sang Ruk was my favorite. But a list of characters I dislike would probably be a lot shorter, as I think I liked most of them!

Favorite scenes include the toilet scene (lololol), and the compare/contrast of the shoe-shopping scenes (Jun Pyo pleases her by observation, but Ji Hoo is just unerringly on the same wavelength and just ~knows~) XD

I do quite like Buffy!!! Loved some eps so far, in fact!! But "Boys over Flowers" kind of took my heart, shredded it, made me laugh, made me angst, and is the first show I think I've ever seen where I can say I actively multiship a character. That ... doesn't happen usually with me XD

I have never actually seen Buffy the Vampire Slayer (sort of? The movie version with Luke Perry was pretty much the go-to movie my friends and I always rented whenever we had sleepovers) (but I don't think the movie counts?). One of these days I'll watch it.
