Wow. Maintance is stupid. And so are the cops apparently. You should complain to some higher ups. I mean, if you think about it you are a customer. You pay to attend that school and take classes there. If it is not up to par with your standards you should let someone know of what just happened to you. You never know, you may get some results. Otherwise, all I can think of is throwing snowballs at the maintance building. : )

Well, we talked to Frank (our newspaper advisor). He's pretty steamed.

We may or may not write an editorial in the next issue of the paper.

This isn't the first time stuff like this has happened, either.

There was a cop who would periodically check up on us during our production weekends...he was a pretty nice guy. Except during our last production weekend, he showed up at like 9 am when we were still asleep (we retired at like 5, by the way). He proceeded to swear at us about being lazy and not working. It was ridiculous.
