I'm telling you right now that I would not let my 8- or 9-year-old daughter wear mascara and eyeliner. There are other moms who probably wouldn't care about it one way or another and might, in fact, like the eco-friendly claims by this company that is targeting their cosmetics to tweens.

But the heavier makeup can wait a few more years thanks and she'd have to buy it herself or get it as a Christmas gift or something. Ultimately all of this is just another way to suck a lot more money out of parent's pockets for things no one needs.

I have no problem with little girls playing dress up. What I do have a problem with is the clothing lines that have pre-teens looking like sluts. I can't tell you how many horrified grandmothers I talked to when I worked in the childrens department at JCPenney. We had jean shorts one year that were ridiculously short. (Can you say camel toe?)

I think it's ok to play dressup inside the house, but to walk around like an advertisement for pageants is crazy -- it makes me so angry to see 2 year olds with wigs, fake nails and lipliner
