My most recent work project failed to get off to a flying start yesterday. Well, to be a fair the plane did too. On my way to Pakistan via the United Arab Emirates, my first flight was sat at Amsterdam Schiphol on the runway with engineering problems for 5 1/2 hours*. When we finally made it to our destination, I was greeted with the cheery news ( Read more... )

Well, it's certainly been an experience so far, and one I wouldn't trade for the world. I would certainly appreciate it more if there'd been fewer guns though. *jitter*

Heee. Yeah. I felt that way in the Philippines.. where McDonalds had armed guards, as did the banks, with machine guns.

Yup! Much the same here. There are three layers of armed security between the outside world and myself, yet still my safety has been threatened within the confines of even this hotel. But you know what? I'm not afraid any more, and I wonder whether I ever will be again.

Hang in there, lionkitty! You'll get where you're going eventually, in your own amicable style.

Thank you for the phone call - I appreciated it! Always good to hear from you. We really should figure out a way to talk more! :)

And please - take some time out for yourself. Take a holiday, even if it's just a break at home, though knowing you, you'll end up going off someplace. ;) Decompress. No run the lion ragged.

Fly safe, cutie!

Well, we certainly got to talk more the other night! I just wish it hadn't involved me ranting on about shitty pay rates and mafia members. :D

Looking forward to chatting in better circumstances!

We did talk lots! And yay ranting. It's good for you. :) It was great to chat to you. Now all I gotta do is figure out why I couldn't reach you on Skype, cos damn, that would be a cheaper way to get hold of you. ;)

Take care of yourself, hon. Come home in one piece! I like my lions whole. More chatting soon, I hope!

Remember, even if you say that you aren't American, they'll probably hold you for ransom anyways, cutie. ;)

Have fun. *floof* :)

Aieee! Well, it's certainly been a life changing experience so far, though I'm not sure how much fun comes into it. I'll certainly come home a changed person, though - which I hope will be in a good way.

I've done a fairly good job so far, given my current state of alive-ness. There have however been moments this trip when I've had my doubts as to the sustainability of said state..

It was.. interesting.. to speak to you on the phone on Saturday. Hope you are still alive and that whoever might have been following you has given up :)

And seriously, I know the job is important and your take pride in your work and travel is good for the soul... but if they ever want to send you back consider refusing. ^_^

Probably a bit late for that now - I've joined a charity organisation out here and may possibly end up paying future visits as a result. :)

Cheers! I'm most definitely still alive, in a new room and as far as I can tell, safe. However, given the manner of our initial online introduction I thought it entirely appropriate to call at a time of mild crisis and drunkenness. ^.^ Looking forward to meeting you in the flesh!

PS: We do look rather like each other, don't we?
