Look for Calibre, and google Apprentice Alf for a plugin for Calibre.

That's a useful answer to a different question, and not the one I was asking.

Not really...you put Apprentice Alfs Tools plugin in Calibre and then you can pug in the Kindle to the computer Calibre is running on and the Tools plugin removes DRM from the Kindle books as it loads them into Calibre.

If you are trying to do it without a Kindle then Apprentice Alfs tools have a DRM removal tool for the Kindle Software...although I don't know if there is a Mac version of that.

I'm trying to do it without a Kindle. In order to use Apprentice Alf's DRM removal tools without a Kindle, you have to install Kindle for the Mac (or PC, but my mother has a Mac), find where the Mac stores the files, and copy the files into Calibre.

It's the "find where the Mac stores the files" part that I was stalling on, and was looking for help with. Thanks, though.

Have you looked under "archived" items in the Kindle? Also, have you checked the "My Kindle" account on Amazon? You might have to drag the files over or transfer using a USB.

That's all I know.

Apparently Kindle puts them on a virtual disk on the Mac unless you tell it otherwise.
