[29: accidental video] pull the strings that make this thing you pushed with all your might

Nov 07, 2010 00:13

[The comm is on Jack's bedside table, and he's sitting on the bed, so only the side of his face is visible; it's hard to distinguish his expression, but his body language is rigid, fingers tensed on his knees. He's staring at his mirror, which he'd briefly uncovered to check...something ( Read more... )

[Dean's been flipping from channel to channel, trying to pick up other signals, and stops on this one in particular. Wrinkling his brow, he taps the screen and manages a strangled 'hello' before tightening up and speaking clearly.]

Hey. Hey, dude. You okay?

[He's never seen this guy before, but the young man looks pretty average, if a bit unsettled and strung-out. Dean glances at the mirror through the camera screen to see WOULD YOU KINDLY scrawled across it.]

...the Hell...? Hey, you! Hey! Who are you?

[No answer. Jack is a little preoccupied at the moment.

And then Dean starts yelling and he jumps, scrabbling for the communicator. God, did they see? His hands are shaking as he picks it up, but his expression is flat, oddly blank.]

I'm Jack.

Whoa, Jack, calm down.

[The poor kid - he can't be much older than twenty, right? - Looks more scared than he is. Then again, Dean's already spread hex mojo in front of his doors and window, along with the salt lines, so he feels a little more protected than usual.

But the hounds still aren't a comfort.]

I'm Dean. Dean Winchester. You okay, kiddo?

[That penetrates his pride, at least. He grits his teeth, puts the communicator down so the shaking stops.]

I'm fine, and I'm not a kid.

Would you kindly what? Brush your teeth? Clean the leaves off the roof? Wear a feathery hat that complements your sweater?

Your mirror is not as polite or helpful as it thinks it is.

[Jack answers with a toothbrush sticking out of his mouth.]

Please stop.

[ Bhamba answers with a blank stare, because he doesn't get the joke.

He also has no idea what to stop, so he will just.... stop. And stare. And remain perfectly motionless with a perfect expression of WTF on his face. ]

[It's not the most traumatic set of mind-control orders Jack has ever received, but now that he knows his will is being subverted, the sensation is still crawling and miserable. With a venomous glare at Bhamba--no hint of a joke there--he slams his closet door open and pulls out a hat. Thankfully it's at least a men's hat, a cream-colored fedora with a pair of deep-red feathers tucked into the band. He puts it on his head with another glare, grabs a rake, and heads for the door.]

[Jack has been turning his comm on and off, wanting to avoid more orders but still desperate to find Johnny or Sinclair. When he gets the message, he latches on with obvious relief in his eyes, but says nothing.]

[Very quietly:] ..Would you kindly? [He sounds almost curious.]

Explain that to me, please?

[He's had enough orders by now that he's barely functioning on a conscious level. Just the words of the order are enough to get him looking into the transmission, glassy-eyed.]

What does that mean? Would you kindly? [He says it in such a way that sounds almost like a command, his voice flat.]

[He opens his mouth, closes it again. There's blood clotted in his teeth.]

Have to.
