I have noticed that many people don't actually know the difference between tailored clothing, and made to measure clothing. As the son of a master tailor, I have to admit I do find myself twitching when I hear the terms exchanged and used wrongly, so much like the informative post I made last month on caffeine, I shall make another about this ( Read more... )

All I hear are empty threats.

This from the man who can't properly exchange centimeters for inches.

Tailors work in inches! Not my fault Torchwood insists on centimetres.

...and I know now.

Give it up. Some of these fools wouldn't know a tailor if one poked them in the ass with a needle.

But with this they hopefully now won't be able to use ignorance as an excuse.

The ignorant will always stay ignorant and buy their clothes at flea markets. I see it happen everyday.

I have to agree that clothing should be bought for quality, not cheapness.

Yeah, but finding someone willing to make a leather jacket totally to your needs? Not the easiest thing in the world. And requires, you know, money.

I know plenty of people that would. Just not here in the City.

I had a guy back home that did all my stuff. And, of course, I come here and there's tumbleweeds blowing in that department. It blows, because my jacket was already in shreds when I got here, and now it's got all this paint on it I can't get out, thanks to psycho PETA chick a few days ago.

Huh.

I'm not nearly as good as my Da was, but I do know what I'm doing. Maybe that's a corner of the market to look into.

As long as you know the difference, you can call it what you like.

Please. Professionals have been dressing me since I was four.

If the professionals are dressing you, that doesn't necessarily mean you know the difference. It means that they do.

Jack, doing laundry action! handsomejack June 1 2009, 21:41:37 UTC
Uhura had intrigued Jack, what could he say!

Of course for him the flirting had been harmless though he had a feeling he was in trouble with a certain young Welshman. Thus, he was doing his version of penance in the form of laundry.

To be precise he was doing Ianto and Kyle's shirts, which he was now settling in to put a fine iron on.

You did not get through two world wars in the RAF without knowing how to put a knife crease into pants and make a collar stand at attention.

Ianto has been a little miffed earlier (read, miffed enough to go back to work instead of doing something more enjoyable) but Kyle was indeed good at coaxing him out of those moods, and as such, their date had Ianto back to his usual self.

That didn't mean he couldn't make Jack think he was in trouble.

To see what would happen, Ianto made sure to walk past Jack on his way to the next room without saying a thing to the older man.

Given Jack's track record with peeving off significant others, he expected to be in trouble.

He grinned a little to himself as Ianto very pointedly ignored him and calmly reached for the next shirt. Doing shirts was his apology, he wasn't going to grovel.

Didn't Jack usually do laundry? Ianto didn't think it worked as an apology.

A drink of milk for Ianto, then he wandered back.
