last night i watched "Fahrenheit 9/11" - although i normally prefer to remain in my 'blissful ignorance bubble', this movie evoked irksome feelings in me that instilled a desire to become slightly more educated

That's actually a remarkably good idea. We still wouldn't make nearly as much money by selling our services instead of stealing others' raw materials, but it's a much more civilized way to proceed. Wow, a moderate viewpoint I agree with. You deserve some sort of medal. We could rename the Army US Army, Inc. Awesome.
Oh, and the movie is factually accurate enough that nobody's raised any serious objections to its validity, and there are many who would LOVE to discredit Michael Moore. He's pretty careful about getting his facts straight. One book you should read is "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right" by Al Franken. I haven't read the entire thing myself, but it was remarkably good for the parts that I did read while in Seattle.
