Texas is cool

So we've made it to Lubbock, Texas and actually decided to stay a while. We met a couple of cool people - Owen and Rachel - and have had a better time than we expected. We heard some local music and hit a coffee shop or two - there's actually a lot in this town. I guess it's because of the University (Texas Tech) which I didn't realize was here ( Read more... )

WTF are you doing in Lubbock? That is my town. Wait... maybe I should ask you where you are from too... and how you found me. I'm intrigued...

No way, that's way too random that you are from Lubbock. Who would have thought? I read a poem, from a group list that intrigued me and checked your site out. My boys and I are just road tripping, and stopped in Lubbock for a night, and stayed a couple of days. We had a great time, it's way better than New Mexico. Do you know Owen and Rachel? I ran into them at Sugar Browns (this random coffee shop that I ran across). They were way cool.

I know a Rachel or two. The Rachel I know is a good friend of mine and fellow art student at Texas Tech.

It is interesting that you made your way to Sugar Brown's. DId you see a guy working there with dreadlocks? That is Nat Long, my best friend. He is one cool kat. If I wasn't here in Houston for the summer, I'd probably be sitting outside SUgar Brown's or Aroama's COffee Shop smoking the pipe and drinking coffee.

Though there isn't much in lubbock, the people are fucking what makes the town rock-and-roll.

Are you in a band or what?

I didn't really notice who was working there. As far as Rachel, I don't think she was in school - just kind of a coffee shop floater.

No, I'm not in a band. I'm actually with a couple of school friends from New Mexico. We're in a Christian community back in NM and decided to have an adventure this summer and head east. I had a little money saved up from working during the school year so the summer job wasn't as important as I thought it was going to be. What can I say? Sometimes you find yourself doing the most weird things and you're not sure why... but I just go with it, ya know?
