note: past is when yunho was a stud muffin until he found out about his condition. present is during the time when the couple met minseok and yoosu and everyone else. future is three years after that, when minseok is already eight years old... and the years after that.

present

Yunho, Jaejoong concluded, was possessed by a teenage girl. Last week, he was forced to join him in a Nicholas Sparks movie marathon which lasted for about an agonising eleven hours. He counted, and because he did, he knew it was more than that. Rounding off just makes life easier. It was odd, really, because Yunho has never been a fan of movies, specially romantic ones. According to him, it was pointless to watch someone else's love story when he could enjoy his own. Jaejoong blushed everytime he remembered.

Out of all the movies they've watched, A Walk to Remember was what stuck to him the most mainly because Yunho promised to take him to two places at the same time. He was excited at first, immediately asking his husband if he'd take him to Virginia too, but his excitement disappeared in a snap as soon as Yunho proudly stated "The DMZ border." In all fairness to him, he looked genuinely eager. Jaejoong wasn't, and he did not hesitate to let him know through nudging the taller man hardly on the side. Admittedly though, he enjoyed the movie no matter how much sadness it gave Yunho afterwards.

Jaejoong was thoroughly mad after the marathon. Who was Nicholas Sparks anyway and who gave him the right to write such depressing endings? If he could sue him for such a petty reason, he would. It's Nicholas' fault that Yunho's mood was down for almost one whole week. The children were worried but as soon as he told them why their mama - Byulyi has chosen the same endearments as Minseok's, much to Yunho's chagrin - was acting that way, they laughed it off and vowed to cheer him up. So far, none of them were successful.

"Papa, where's mama?"

Looking up from the makeup bag he's organising, he smiled at his daughter of two months and motioned for her to enter their room. "Is he not watching TV while devouring a tub of ice cream?" He asked rather seriously. It had become a daily occurrence that Jaejoong does not find it funny anymore.

Byulyi shook head head and sprawled out on her parents' bed. "Nope. Oppa's too busy with homework to pay attention to me."

Jaejoong sat down beside her and gently stroked her hair. Having a daughter felt so refreshing. "What do you need from your mama?"

"I need to interview him for a group project. People and their jobs... you know, that sort of thing. I said in passing that he worked for some bigshot model and somehow, that stuck to my classmates and now I have to at least get a picture and an autograph of that model or else we'll all fail. Because of me. And I don't want that!"

He chuckled, pinching her on the cheek. "No worries, princess. We'll get that interview done in no time."

Probably not.

Jaejoong sighed for the umpteenth time. Yunho had gone missing for almost two hours and just when he was about to call for help, the man barged in their house carrying a cat. "Welcome home?" he said tentatively.

In Yunho's arms was a Russian Blue cat. Jaejoong knew because the owner of the cat was their neighbour, Kim Heechul. "Look, babe. My pussy."

Jaejoong choked. "P-pussy?!"

"Yes. His name is Pookie."

"No. That is Heebum. You know, Heechul's cat."

"Nuh uh. Pookie is mine. Pookie is my squishy and he is mine. I will cuddle him everyday. I am his papa."

He quirked a brow. "Yunho, is this because the kids are calling you mama? Is this you being a rebel? Stealing people's cats claiming them as yours?!"

A chuckle escaped Yunho's lips. He held the cat closer to his chest and lightly hit Jaejoong on the arm. "No, silly. He's always been mine, just happened to land on the wrong owner."

"Don't let Heechul hear you say that." he replied with a frown. "Yunho, I'm serious. Give Heebum back to Heechul. I'm not up for some drama so please, have mercy on us all and just give the damn cat back."

"It's not my fault he couldn't take care of Pookie!"

"How could you even say that?"

"Well for your information, Mr. Kim, I found Pookie parading on the streets like nobody's business. I can't let the poor thing get kidnapped by someone else."

"So you kidnapped him yourself." the smaller man deadpanned. "Love, we've lived here long enough to know that Heebum runs away all the time but comes ba-"

"Then you just proved me right." The grin on Yunho's face was starting to piss Jaejoong off. He was going to do everything in his power to give the cat back to its real owner.

And give the cat back to its owner he did. When Yunho was taking his sweet time in the shower, Jaejoong put his ninja skils to test and grabbed Pookie - Heebum - who was slumbering on their bed, then sprinted out of their house towards Heechul's. The latter didn't exactly thank him or anything remotely close to that. In fact, Heechul was actually disappointed he brought the cat back to him.

"That shit hates me with every fiber of his being." said Heechul with a sigh as he took Heebum from a surprised Jaejoong. "You could have just kept it, you know; changed its name and all then I'll pretend I know nothing." Jaejoong stood at his doorstep motionless. How does he even respond to that? "Naming him after my ex-boyfriends probably wasn't a good idea."

The last thing Jaejoong heard was a bitter chuckle before the door was slammed on his face. Great, now he has to keep Yunho away from the weirdo.

Thankfully, when he got back to their house, Yunho was still in the bathroom. Heaving out a sigh of relief, Jaejoong plopped down the couch and fished his phone out of his pocket to entertain himself. He was in the middle of clicking a random article when a freshly bathed Yunho took the spot beside him, asking about Pookie. Out of sheer panic, he thrusted his phone towards his husband who willingly took it. Only a few seconds passed and a bright smile formed Yunho's lips. Jaejoong took a peek at the article he unintentionally chose and sighed.

Basically, Yunho was now irationally fond of penguins. But on a brighter note, Pookie's existence was completely forgotten.

"I think Yunho's possessed." Yoochun quirked a brow. He got a call from Jaejoong that morning to clear his lunch schedule because he needed to talk to him. Jaejoong did not bring empty handed, though, which Yoochun was thankful for. He chewed the pork cutlet thoughtfully while listening to his problematic friend. "By some fifteen year old girl or something."

The doctor put down his chopsticks and leaned his back against the couch. "Okay now I'm interested. Carry on."

"I don't know. I'm so confused. Last week we watched some tear jerking chick flicks then he got depressed after that. I'm using depressed very lightly so it wasn't really that bad, but he was so down." Jaejoong proceeded to rant about the weird things Yunho had been doing the past two weeks. "I know you're no psychia-whatever but you're a doctor and the closest thing I have to it."

Yoochun nodded. He understood. Although he's not a psychiatrist, he could most definitely help Jaejoong as a friend. "When did you say it started?"

"Two weeks ago, I think? Not sure if this information is relevant but he did spend a lot of time with Byulyi and Minseok a week before that. Which is what makes it odd. He was happy with them and then the sudden change of attitude happened."

"Is he a little distant to Byulyi?"

"Eh? Why?"

The doctor shook his head. "Just curious. I can't diagnose him for obvious reasons, Jae. But say, I'll invite a friend over to your house for lunch this weekend so he could observe Yunho. How's that sound?"

"Sounds good. But..." Jaejoong paused, biting his lower lip. He was worried about Yunho and now that an actual psychiatrist would discreetly check on his husband, a wave of nervousness washed over him. "He's not... sick... is he? Like something serious?"

The older of the two reached out to squeeze his shoulder. "Don't make yourself worry sick, hmm?"

It was easier said than done. Both his children have noticed how uneasy he had been ever since his visit to the hospital. Weekend came by quickly and before he could process what was about to happen, Yoochun was at his doorstep with Junsu, Gayoung and the friend.

"Nice to meet you, Jaejoong. My name's Kwak Jisung."

Jaejoong extended a hand to shake Jisung's but he found Yunho's hand on top of his instead. He gave his husband, who just shrugged, a confused look. "And I'm Jung Yunho, Jaejoong's husband. Just thought you should know. Now that the introductions are over, let's go eat lunch. I'm starving."

Without warning whatsoever, Yunho pulled him by the hand and practically dragged him to the dining room. Holding back a smile was never Jaejoong's forte so he was relieved that no one could see the massive grin he's sporting. A possessive Yunho had already been his favourite.

Luckily, Yunho was a good boy throughout the whole thing. He loosened up once Jisung made it clear that he was in no way interested in his husband romantically; that he was just there because of Yoochun's invitation. Of course the psychiatrist was smart enough to not reveal his true intentions.

"He doesn't exactly show symptoms and such. It may or may not be linked to the adoption you've just gone through." Jisung told them upfront once Jaejoong has successfully convinced Yunho to take Junsu and their kids to buy some ice cream. "Kind of like post-adoption depression."

"There's such thing as that?!"

"Believe it or not, there is. It is rather uncommon but there have been numerous cases. It basically works like post-partum depression." explained Jisung. "But to be perfectly honest, I don't think Yunho is suffering from PAD. He just happens to be eccentric, if I may say so. He interacts with both your children just fine. He is in no way distant to Byulyi and he gives her as much attention as Minseok."

"Then what the heck is wrong with him?"

"Jaejoong, I think we need to talk."

Jaejoong wanted to hit Yunho hard because they both just woke up from a good night's sleep and this certainly wasn't how he wanted to be woken up. An uneasy feeling suddenly settled in. All possible scenarios ran through his mind. "C-can I at least brush my teeth?"

"No need. This won't take a while and I won't be kissing you."

Well, that dampened his mood even more. What did Yunho mean by not kissing him? He wasn't going to ask for divorce, was he? This was how things happened in dramas. The heartbreaker would drop the bomb at an ungodly hour so the heartbreakee would be all sorts of incoherent and won't be in the right mind to save what's left of their relationship.

"My breath stinks so bad you might faint." At this point, he was desperate enough to make up all dumb excuses.

Yunho smiled and stroked his cheek. He suddenly wanted to cry. Was this the last time Yunho will be caressing him like that? "No it doesn't. We're an inch away from each other, babe."

"Don't call me babe if you're going to divorce me and run to that Australian Bondi vet shithead." he mumbled before he could stop himself. His husband blinked confusedly.

"Who's divorcing who? I most certainly am not going to do that..." Yunho trailed off. "Unless..."

He sat upright, almost feeling dizzy from his sudden action. "I won't! You're stuck to me forever, remember?! Then what..." A sigh escaped his lips. "Yunhoyah, my love, my pretty pretty fluffy ball of sunshine, my life and more, please don't play with me. My brain can't handle it anymore. I'm worried enough as it is. You haven't been yourself lately and that has been worrying me to no end."

"I haven't?"

Jaejoong looked at him like he had sprouted a tail. "You don't say. Honestly, you've been so... weird. You've been very emotional; the littlest things would make you cry. You obsess over odd stuff. You-"

"Now you know what I deal with every single day." Yunho said with a laugh, sounding like he just won the lottery.

"Wha-" The realisation finally dawned upon Jaejoong. He stared at his husband in pure and utter before releasing an eardrum damaging banshee scream. "Yah! That was all an act?!" He jumped on Yunho to straddle him and then attacked him with belly squishes. "I am not that crazy! I don't obsess over penguins to the point that I want to live in Antartica."

Yunho received the attack without complaints. Laughing, he pulled Jaejoong close to his chest and trapped him in his arms. "But I almost drove you crazy, didn't I?"

The smaller man huffed, rubbing his cheek on his husband's clothed chest. "Yeah, but-"

"But you love me despite all that craziness, be it real or an act."

"That I cannot argue with." Jaejoong giggled and bit Yunho's nipple playfully which earned him a squeeze on his buttcheek. "But really," His voice has turned serious as he and his other half looked right into each other's eyes. "That was a scary two weeks." Tears threatened to fall down his cheeks and he tried to hold them back but to no avail. He was too overwhelmed. "I didn't know what was wrong with you that I had to get you observed by some doctor and then you scared me shitless. I thought you were going to leave me because I don't make you happy anymore. That was partly why I sought Yoochun's help."

Yunho wiped his tears, then kissed him on the nose gently. "Shush, love. I might have gone overboard, so I apologise. I just wanted to play around for a while."

"Please don't do that again. If... if you want me to have a taste of my own medicine then okay. I will try my hardest to not be as-"

"No, no. I don't want you to change ever." Yunho showered the crying man's face with kisses. He really had no reason. It was a spur of the moment thing. He wanted to know how it felt like to have Jaejoong's personality, as simple as that. "Please don't change. I've always loved you the way you are. You are you and I won't have it any other way. I lo-"

The couple jumped out of each other's arms in shock when their bedroom door bursted open. It was Byulyi. "Ma, Pops, Minseok oppa's pregnant!"
