(I'm not any of the above posters, but I came across this prompt on delicious and started writing before I saw the comments. Not trying to step on any toes, and hope to read someone else's version of this one day ( ... )

"Look, there are channels for this sort of thing," Arthur explains to the person who's shown up at his dormitory room with a collapsible white cane in one hand and rolled-up papers in the other. "Either you or the professor submits the coursework to the Disability Centre, and in four to six weeks -"

"Which would be brilliant, but the professor is allergic to saying exactly what he bloody well means," the stranger interrupts, "which includes exactly what he wants us to read. He just mentioned this article this morning. The exam's tomorrow."

"Then it sounds like you have a fabulous discrimation complaint brewing there. There are forms down at the Centre -"

"I'll add one to my pile." The stranger makes no move to leave.

Arthur sighs. As a matter of principle, he's unimpressed with people he doesn't know appearing on his doorstep and making demands, but mostly he's putting up a fuss because there really are channels for this kind of thing. Going outside of them can lead at best to hand slaps and at worst to lawsuits, and what ( ... )

It's a terrible-sounding impression, but Arthur doesn't bristle, because he doesn't get the feeling that his voice or accent or class is being mocked. Just that Merlin is horrible at impressions.

"I'm taking that as a compliment," Arthur says, and seems as if he's right on all accounts; he makes himself to look away from the pretty red blush creeping over Merlin's cheeks.

OMG. So much love for this, anon. I love the way they meet - the strange intimacy of it, Merlin's insistence - and the way Arthur's mind works when he's reading. And, oh, the image of Merlin touching himself in Arthur's bed - there's not enough guh in the world to cover just how hot that is.

By the way, it's totally OK for there to be more than one fill for a prompt - especially one as great as this one. I can't wait to read more of this!

Thank you so much!! I do a lot of reading out loud for my job (though not in this context), and it was fun letting Arthur ramble about it :-)

Anon, I adore this already. I love so much that you avoided the easy cliche of Arthur bumping (literally) into Merlin and finding out he's blind yadda yadda, but that Arthur's already versed in this business and knows what's up and that Merlin likes the sound of Arthur's voice and that we know how it will end and YUM CANNOT WAIT TO SEE HOW THEY GET THERE YAYYY.

Aww! You have a great way of building up a lovely kind of intimate atmosphere where Arthur and Merlin shift and slide and try to find one another. Love the way it took time for Arthur to adapt to Merlin's headaches, but he did. And yay, Merlin's smile and him colouring, and I love how he's just a little bit uncertain, enough to blush, but also afraid to face the world and grab it with both hands, and to take everything in best way possible. Still loving it very much, anon!
