Fedex has the absolute worse managers in the retail world. It is like that take every Target reject and give them a center to run. I wish you well!

Fedex is not the be-all end-all of jobs. In fact, i guarantee you that you'll find another job, close to where you live, within a week if you PUT YOUR MIND INTO FINDING ONE.
I'm not trying to make you feel bad, but seriously...if you drove 3 hours to get there each day...for a shit $11 an hour job...I'm not sure who the fool is here. You or your ex-manager? Anywhere, including McDonald's in better than F-Off...and I guarantee you there is a McDonalds hiring within 1/2 mile from where you are staying now...and they will put you on whatever shifts you can work.
Good luck in the future and don't make the mistake of staying somewhere longer than you should ever again.

I think the fact that she told you that HR knew what was going on was a lie. HR only takes what each side says and determines who is at fault according to state employment laws. I think that is illegal to tell an employee they cannot contact HR. I think HR is suppose to be there for everyone. Sounds to me if you pressed it that you could collect unemployment until you find a job especially if you tell them word-for-word what your dumbass manager said about contacting HR. I think you should write HR and tell them what she said to you as it might get her written up.
Good luck!
