Weird -- I was disappointed in it, because it didn't seem that the final victory required any serious sacrifice on any of the main characters' part. (also, predicting all the major twists and turns didn't help much either)

Compare, for example, to the Black Cauldron series, which, despite being firmly in the kid's-fantasy genre, final victory does require actual sacrifice.
