It is not actually socially acceptable to be flakey as an adult.
By this point in your life you really should be able to plan your time, and do the things you say you are going to do. It really isn't that hard. Like just do it. Really, you aren't nearly as much a slave to inertia as you think.

I hate waiting until a specific day to give people their presents. Birthday, christmas... it's all crazy, I want people to know I love them and that I am thinking of them right now!
