To: T'Lan,
I know this is weird, but I'm back to life. Mind if I drop by to visit you? I might bring one of my sons if that's okay?

Lt. George Kirk, USS Enterprise (formerly Kelvin)

To: Jim kirktastic
Hey kiddo. What say we get together, tear up the town? Haven't seen you a lot recently. Go visit an old shipmate of mine?

"Space is good. Do you have a dedicated bed yet?" George questioned curiously. "Or is there just a dedicated wing for the obnoxious Kirk-family. Is it right near the transport stations?"

"We're wondering, well, at least I was wondering if you'd be the officiant. It looks like we're going to get married while on the Enterprise. Starfleet law does follow old Earth maritime Terran law that Captains are allowed to perform marriages."

Jim snorted at his father's teasing. But George's asking... he blinked at that, kind of surprised. Just hadn't expected it. "Me? ...Are you sure?" Jim tried to figure out fast if that was weird or not, that he would be marrying his father to his father-like figure.

"Well, who else?" George asked, smiling. "I'd ask your brother but he's no longer a Captain. And we want this to be an intimate affair."

"Besides, I'd be honored for you to do it for us. I'm thinking about asking your brother and Bones to be my best men."

"I thought you could only have one best man?" Jim tried to think back on what little he knew about weddings. "Of course I'll do it if you want me to." Meaning he had to study up on it. "...We talking a ship wide thing or... on the planet before we leave or what?"

"I didn't get a single best man last time. Chris was our witness and that was it. I'm claiming two this time around" George explained. "And we're thinking about it being on board the ship. Keep down any media presence, since I highly doubt you're gonna let paparazzi on board, and not even shipwide. Just Chris' bridge crew, the McCoy's, you boys, Scotty...that's about it, I think. And guests for whoever wants to bring a guest."

Jim forced down the natural reaction to say 'my bridge crew', and instead went with his second question. "Scotty? Didn't even know you two knew each other."

"Don't know him all that well. We got drunk together once, a while ago," George answered. "But it would hardly be fair to say 'okay, all the other department heads are invited to come watch us get married, but the CEO. Pissing off engineers? Bad idea if you want hot water every again. Or climate controls that work, or any number of things that make life that much more comfortable on board this ship."

"I guess we just think of that in different ways. Are you inviting John then?" He asked, curiously, then realized he hadn't actually told anyone yet. "I made John our new head of security. Have you met him? Looks just like Bones?"

"John?" George asked. "He the one who looks like our Bones? I don't think we've met yet. But good for you, finding someone who you like as security. Yeah, he'll be invited too. I figured he was part of the McCoy family. Emma seems to like adopting everything in sight."

"I dunno if Emma's adopted him or not," Jim admitted, shrugging. "Yea, he looks just like Bones except with more muscle." And a second personality. "He'll be good. Protective."

"I've no doubt, if you hired him he'll be good. Wonder if he does lessons..." George mused. "Been a while since I picked up a new form of hand-to-hand."

"That one I can tell you. He doesn't do combat against people, even practice." Jim could remember that.

"You don't have to do combat against people. Just teach it," George said. "I don't mind if he won't spar." He stood up, and threw his napkin in the recycler. "Okay. Before we go, everything you hear is going to be highly exaggerated. T'Lan likes to make things seem worse than they were." A smile tugged at his lips. She wouldn't but...just in case she told some really embarrassing stories, he wanted Jim to think that.

Jim raised a brow in his father's direction, not too sure what George exactly had in mind. "I'll keep it in mind," Jim said carefully before he laughed, standing up.

George chuckled and clapped Jim on the back. "She doesn't believe me about me being me. Thinks I'm some impostor with really good sources." He lead the way outside to the car he'd rented for while on Sha'Kwai. "She's expecting us though. Any questions before we get there?"

"Not in particular." Jim felt this was almost starting to get complicated in ways he hadn't expected. "You coming back from the dead was probably... well, one of the last things she expected."
