[NVC Day 14, Early Morning] -- [And So the Sun Rises] -- [Open to All]

Apr 29, 2010 10:16

After a long night at the theater, meeting Spock and his brother, and everything afterwards, it had been difficult to sleep. Along with the tickets, Jim had received a message about the trial's start the next morning. He had refused to let it bother him all night, just wanting to enjoy some time with Bones despite everything they had been forced to ( Read more... )

captain's supposed to be perfect, burning the midnight crystals, not so boldly going

Pasha panted, the increased gravity and early morning heat made it extremely difficult to run with relative ease like she was used to. She slowed down to a gentle jog along the Vulcan coastline, the air here reminded her of that of San Francisco and jogging downtown in the mornings before anybody else on the Starfleet academy campus was awake.

As she finally slowed down to a walking pace she took a long drag from her water bottle, wetting her lips again and glancing around. New Vulcan was certainly pretty. It made a nice change from the inside of a Starfleet gymnasium. Then Pasha blinked and squinted as she spotted a familiar head of blonde hair. She pushed her hair out of her eyes before raising her hand to wave at him to garner his attention. “Keptain?”

Jim glanced over when he heard someone calling out his rank, surprised to see Pasha there with a slight sheen of sweat on her face and an outfit that, if what he guessed was correct, meant she had been running. He gave a little wave back at her. "Morning, Pasha. Not on duty... just Jim right now." He gave a little grin. "Too early for Captain."

"Sorry si-" She stopped herself. "Sorry, Jim. Old habits die hard." Pasha glanced out in the direction he had previously been staring. "Vatching the sunrise? I vould not hawe thought you to be such an early bird." It was rare that she ever saw anyone on her runs, usually all were dead asleep.

Her slip and catch made him smile. "I'm not usually an early bird unless I have to be." He leaned forward, tucking his elbows onto his knees as he sat on the wall. "Just couldn't sleep and didn't want to accidentally wake up Bones."

He gestured out in front of him. "You always run this early?"

Pasha grinned and nodded "Best time of day for it. I hardly ewer sleep anyvay so I may as vell be doing something productiwe." She found it hard to switch off her brain sometimes which often left her taking runs late at night, attempting to exaust her body so her mind could rest. Pasha lent lightly against the wall. "You get used to being up so early after a vhile."

"I bet," Jim chuckled, watching her. When she smiled like that, it was exactly like looking at the young man that had helped to save the world instead of looking at his sister. It was still a weird thought, sometimes, to think that someone would want to stay female. Not that he had any problems with the ladies, but the concept of changing his gender and staying that way was mind-boggling.

"Too much to do today, probably not a bad thing that I ended up being awake before the sun."

"The Trial." Pasha nodded, deadly serious for a moment, it was a statement rather than a question, she couldn't pretend to know the inner turmoil it was bound to bring for Jim or even how he must have felt at that moment but she could just acknowledge how difficult it must have been. There wasn't a single person in the Federation who didn't know what was happening today, it must have been weighing heavily on the young Captain's mind.

"But once it is over, that is it, it vill be done finished and ower vith. Right?" She commented, hopeful that it would be the end of the Enterprise's dealings with Nero and Ayel and their ship.

"I hope so, Pasha. I hope so." He gave a quirk of his lips in her direction. "Will you be going?" He didn't assume she would - maybe for the verdict - but he could remember when the loss of Spock's mother had weighed so heavily on him... her.

"I am not certain." Her demeanour immediately turned downcast. The transporter pattern of one Amanda Grayson was something that often featured heavily in her nightmares. "I doubt it." Pasha didn't want to have to consciously think back to that day, were so many friends and classmates and workmates had died all thanks to the actions of one ship.

When her brightness dimmed, Jim reached out and touched her arm lightly in a means of comfort. "Pasha... doesn't matter if you don't. I'll be there, representing you." A slight squeeze. "I don't expect any of you to be there who doesn't want to."

"Thank you, Jim." Pasha nodded solemnly. Going would probably grant her closure about that day, knowing and seeing with her own eyes that it was finally completely over and that the actions of the two Romulans would be brought to justice. “To be honest I vould rather just not think about it. That day, that is.”

"Come to the verdict, if nothing else." Jim wondered if he should have his crew be there, the most important of them that had been there, the day the verdict was read out. Closure - for all of them.

Pasha sighed before ducking her head, damnit, she had never been any good at denying people anything. "Fine. I vill come to the wer-verdict." Her accent was becoming more manageable when she put conscious thought into it.

Her trying to fix her accent made him smile. "You don't have to, but I think it'd be good for everyone." He looked out towards the sun, and remarked quietly, "are you doing alright here? On the planet?" Eyes narrowed. "Need anything?" There was, and always would be, a concern for his crew.

"I am fine. Unless you know how to nicely tell someone that no, you do not care to go see more flowers?" Pasha lightened somewhat, her tone turning teasing and a small smile returning to her face. "Hikaru has been dragging me to anything ewen remotely flower related for the past few days, sometimes I svear if I see another flower I vill set it on fire."

Jim scratched his neck, thinking about it. "It sounds like he likes you, you know? Why not just tell him you want to do something else?"
