[NVC Day 27] -- [Open Office] -- [Open to All]

Jun 03, 2010 09:25

With the sentencing over, the Enterprise would soon be leaving Sha'Kwai and returning to its original mission. By this point, Jim was ready for it. He wanted off the planet, his wanderlust getting the better of it. It was the longest stretch of time he had spent in once place minus his years at the Academy - always moving, always traveling, wanting ( Read more... )

A guilty conscience can wreak havoc on a guilty person’s mind. Or so Chekov was finding. After their encounter on the beach she had taken to avoiding her best friend like the plague, not wanting to hurt him anymore without him even realising she was doing it. She needed to confess what she had done to somebody but she hadn’t the bravery or the inclination to tell Hikaru yet but the weight of the situation still rested heavily on the young navigator’s shoulders. She also needed advice on how to correct the situation.

Kirk.

He wasn’t exactly the first person she’d had in mind if the truth were to be known, but talking to a female friend would be awkward, Emma was busy, Riley would have gotten protective, McCoy was just.....no and as for Hikaru, the person she would normally talk to about things like this well he was the root of her problem. So Kirk it was. Hell this was going to be awkward but she needed advice and Kirk was normally good at advice.

“Keptain?” She poked her head out onto the deck, biting her lip nervously.

Jim looked up from the book in his hand and his eyes just about lit up. "Pasha." He gestured for her to take the seat opposite of him, grinning a little. He could see that nervous gesture, but all in due time. "How's this for an office today? Too bad I can't take this with me on the Enterprise."

He gave a second gesture at the large pitcher of blue liquid on the table. "Thirsty? It looks weird, but tastes sort of like strawberry lemonade. Some sort of fruit juice."

Then he'd ask about why she came. A small, tiny hint of nervousness went through him wondering if she would request to stay on planet or leave, like some others had. No. She had put in no request for it, and she was the type to do it early.

Oh damnit, he was being nice. Somehow that made her feel worse then she already felt. But then again, when wasn't Kirk nice? Well other then to Romulans named Nero but that was understandable after all. Pasha attempted to arrange her face into a smile, hoping that it seemed genuine enough "It is lowely, I am sure that you could find a computer program that did similar. The real thing alvays feels the best though."

Even the increased gravity had gotten less noticeable in the time they had been here. The inner scientist in Pasha wondered what effect it would have when they got back to the Enterprise and the set gravity controls there? Sitting down she cocked her head curiously at the pitcher, stating the obvious "But it is blue." But Pasha nodded her head anyway, she was quite thirsty after all and nerves were only making her mouth dryer.

"I think it's the whole 'vitamin D' thing," Jim laughed as he poured her a drink to match the one he already had. He nudged it over to her, the leaned back in his chair.

"Come on, what's going on? You only bite your lip when you're worried." He could remember seeing Chekov doing that in the past.

"No I don't." She lied instinctively before thinking better of it. "Vell, alright I do." Pasha sighed, folding her hands together on her lap. "Before I tell you anything I vould like you to know that ewerything I hawe done vas of my own wolition and choice." That was important to get out of the way first of all.

She took a breath before delving into her problem, it was now or never after all. "I hawe no doubt you heard about the mysterious illness affecting people of the crew a little vhile ago?"

Pasha would get to see Jim pale as he thought of exactly what happened with the giant pink elephant in the room. He nodded with a jerk of his head, "Oh yea. Definitely, definitely heard of it." He also may have kept a few bottles of it.

Then her other sentence kicked in, and he sat up. "...Shit, Pasha did you get infected?"

"There is no need for you to be vorried but, da. I mean yes, I did." Pasha nodded waving a hand in the air as if trying to ward off the though, trying to ignore the prominent pink blush on her face. "But that is not exactly the issue. Vell it does play a part in it but it is not the main problem although this vould not hawe happened vithout it and-" She started to ramble, listing off figures and percentages.

Jim held up both hands, gesturing for her to slow down. "Pasha, Pasha!" He tried to meet her eyes, concerned. "What do you mean, 'would not have happened without it?'... I'm going to assume you ended up with someone..."

He blinked, remembering their conversation what seemed forever ago. "Sulu?"

Pasha bit down on her lower lip, refusing to meet Kirk's gaze and looking down at her folded hands instead "Yes and No." She admited quietly.

"Yes... and no?" Jim said slowly, brows coming together. "Pasha, what happened?" Screw it if he wasn't supposed to be worried about her personal life, but she had come and brought it up so damn right he was going to be worried about his youngest crew member.

"As I said. Yes and no." Pasha repeated herself. "Vhen I got infected I vas in a bar vith my friends, naturally vith none of us speaking Wulcan fluently ve just guessed at vhat drinks vere and so on. At some point I assume that I drank vhatewer it vas that caused the infection. My friends, hawing secured company for the night left but I stayed behind to finish my drink." She paused. "A person I know then came into the bar and I left vith them. Hence vhy it is both yes and no."

"I saw Hikaru the following day, also vhy it is yes and no." She looked up at Jim for the first time "And I did not tell him."

...Crap. And Bones wondered why he hated relationships.

Jim rubbed a hand over his face. Shit, shit. "Do you think Sulu's going to freak if he thinks you had sex with someone else?" He couldn't blame Pasha for what happened, but damn... what a way to go the first time around. "Everything okay with whoever it was?" Made for some awkwardness that Jim hoped the flowers and stuff soothed over with Paula.

There wasn't anything in the universe that could soothe over what happened after Paula, but he could deal with it by repressing the memory he was pretty sure. Otherwise, he had every plan to drink until he forgot it.

"Did you and Sulu end up...?"

The young navigator paused for a second before shaking her head. "I am more afraid that he vill not." She replied before going on "You see, I vould rather he yells at me and gets it out about how angry he is rather then just accepting it and being nice about it vhile secretly resenting me for it. Hikaru is not the type to yell either." Pasha noted a little sadly. "He is too nice for that."

"Yes fine. Ja- he vas fine vith me." She sighed slightly, rubbing a temple and blushing. "Yes." It was probably a good idea not to mention that they had done it on a beach of all places.

Jim would have said that as a first time with someone the beach was rather romantic... but what Pasha said was right. "You've got a point, about Sulu. He isn't the type to lose it." He rubbed his neck, thinking about it.

"Are you fine with it? With what happened with you and this guy?" Jim said as he tried to think of how he would broach the subject. One thing he knew immediately is hiding it would make everything a whole lot worse.

"I feel guilty, vhich of course I am. And to a degree, I beliewe that I brought it on myself." Pasha brought a hand up to stop Kirk from correcting her "I am not just speaking about the infection, I had flirted vith said man before hand vhile at the theatre, I had intended on meeting some people to say goodbye but they stood me up and so I ended up sitting next to him and flirting vith him. To an extent I lead him on vhich vas not fair of me to Hikaru."

Where to start... Jim leaned forward a little, shaking his head. "You're not Sulu's b--girlfriend." Had to get used to 'girlfriend' instead, because he could remember thinking that Chekov and Sulu were already together long, long before this. "Point being, it isn't fair or unfair to Sulu because you're your own woman. If you want to flirt with someone, you flirt with someone. Flirting doesn't mean touching... it's harmless unless you're with someone and you know they wouldn't like it." At least, that was how he saw it.

"Flirting also doesn't mean you want to have sex. Interested in them? Sure. Doesn't have to mean 'come have sex with me'." His tone turned slightly more serious. "Pasha if you feel guilty about sleeping with this guy... is he someone on the crew?" Would it be a problem later?
