[NVC Day 27] -- [Open Office] -- [Open to All]

With the sentencing over, the Enterprise would soon be leaving Sha'Kwai and returning to its original mission. By this point, Jim was ready for it. He wanted off the planet, his wanderlust getting the better of it. It was the longest stretch of time he had spent in once place minus his years at the Academy - always moving, always traveling, wanting ( Read more... )

A guilty conscience can wreak havoc on a guilty person’s mind. Or so Chekov was finding. After their encounter on the beach she had taken to avoiding her best friend like the plague, not wanting to hurt him anymore without him even realising she was doing it. She needed to confess what she had done to somebody but she hadn’t the bravery or the inclination to tell Hikaru yet but the weight of the situation still rested heavily on the young navigator’s shoulders. She also needed advice on how to correct the situation.

Kirk.

He wasn’t exactly the first person she’d had in mind if the truth were to be known, but talking to a female friend would be awkward, Emma was busy, Riley would have gotten protective, McCoy was just.....no and as for Hikaru, the person she would normally talk to about things like this well he was the root of her problem. So Kirk it was. Hell this was going to be awkward but she needed advice and Kirk was normally good at advice.

“Keptain?” She poked her head out onto the deck, biting her lip nervously.

By now Chekov was gnawing readily on her lower lip. "But it is. If I saw Hikaru flirting vith somebody else I vould be hard pressed not to stop them from doing so. It is not fair of me to assume that he vould not feel the same vay. I know he feels the same vay from vhen that Wulcan vas flirting vith me and he stepped in to stop him." She pointed out, the memory fresh in her mind.

"Yes and No again. He is a displaced person. Such as myself." Pasha silently prayed that the Captain wouldn't ask who it was. Somehow she had the impression that saying she slept with the 'bad' Kirk wouldn't go down so well.

...He had to ask, now. "Who was it, Pasha?" If it was possibly going to be a problem within the crew, he needed to know about it. Either transfer them somewhere else (perhaps the new Starbase 69 where Tina was going, since it would be dealing with the displaced people) or at least make sure to limit them having to deal with each other.

Oh hell. "I vould rather not tell you." Pasha momenairly considered using the puppy dog eyes on him but that probably wouldn't work. She bit down on her lip once more, fiddling with her hands. "DonotbemadbutitvasJames." She blurted, not being able to conceal the truth any longer and wincing slightly as she waited to be yelled at.

....

Of all... the fucking people...

"I'm not mad at you," Jim said in a false calm voice. What he knew of James, what he had heard... the idea of Pasha, who had been worried about Sulu and shy about it that morning...

"He's not welcome back on my ship."

The navigator threw him a withering look. "You are exibiting the prime example of vhy I did not vant to tell you who it vas." He was acting childishly. "Look, he did not harm me vith his actions, ve vere both under the influence of the infection and it is not as if he hurt me or anything."

Jim was used to Bones-level glares, but Pasha still had an effective one. He held up a hand. "No, he's not welcome back on my ship for numerous reasons, specially after he got in trouble here on the planet which involved the authorities."

He was grateful to hear James hadn't hurt her. He could remember what had happened...

Never again. He was maturing, or at least learning.

"Regardless," Pasha stated, waving her hand again "James is not the issue vith vhich I am concerned. To be frank I am not that concerned about him vhat so ewer but I am more concerned about coming clean to Hikaru. I do not know how to do it. I hawe been awoiding him since I last saw him."

Focus. Jim made a small mental note to talk to John about making sure James didn't get back on ship.

"Avoiding him is going to make things worse, and so is hiding it. Did you end up," er, "having sex with Sulu," don't think about it, "while still under the effect of the soda-stuff?"

"Yes, I saw him the day after I vas infected. I had to get out of my room." Oh hell, she probably shouldn't have mentioned that. Don't ask, Don't ask, Don't ask. Pasha chanted in her head.

His brows went up again. "Had to get out? Why? Were you still infected at that point?" Trying to figure it all out.

"Yes, I beliewe so." She nodded "But I did not vant to stay in there. I felt too closed in." Pasha commented.

He could remember feeling similar. "Probably were... I assume Sulu knows about the... infection going around?"

Pasha nodded. "I assume so, howewer ve did not really discuss anything at length." There hadn't been much time for that between removing clothes and kissing.

Jim rubbed the back of his neck again, then perked up. "How about this? I can send out a message to everyone on the crew - I need to do this anyway - about this soda stuff. I can check to make sure he read it. That way, at least, you'll know he knows you weren't entirely in your head when you ... and James... yea. He might still be unhappy about it, but at least he'll be sure. On the other hand... you'll need to step in before he thinks that's the only reason you had sex with him. Something like... dunno..." He gestured vaguely with a hand. "I'm sort of glad it happened, been to shy to start anything with you..."

"Do you think that could vork?" Pasha asked hopefully. Obviously she would still have to incur Hikaru's displeasure at what she had done but it wouldn't seem so bad if he knew that she hadn't intended to.
