With the sentencing over, the Enterprise would soon be leaving Sha'Kwai and returning to its original mission. By this point, Jim was ready for it. He wanted off the planet, his wanderlust getting the better of it. It was the longest stretch of time he had spent in once place minus his years at the Academy - always moving, always traveling, wanting ( Read more... )

A guilty conscience can wreak havoc on a guilty person’s mind. Or so Chekov was finding. After their encounter on the beach she had taken to avoiding her best friend like the plague, not wanting to hurt him anymore without him even realising she was doing it. She needed to confess what she had done to somebody but she hadn’t the bravery or the inclination to tell Hikaru yet but the weight of the situation still rested heavily on the young navigator’s shoulders. She also needed advice on how to correct the situation.

Kirk.

He wasn’t exactly the first person she’d had in mind if the truth were to be known, but talking to a female friend would be awkward, Emma was busy, Riley would have gotten protective, McCoy was just.....no and as for Hikaru, the person she would normally talk to about things like this well he was the root of her problem. So Kirk it was. Hell this was going to be awkward but she needed advice and Kirk was normally good at advice.

“Keptain?” She poked her head out onto the deck, biting her lip nervously.

"I think it could," Jim assured her. "You'd have to get him to focus on the stunning revelation you want to be with him instead of focusing that someone else got there first."

That caused her to actually let out a little laugh that soon developed into a groan, rubbing the side of her face with her hand. "Vell that vill be an interesting conversation to say the least."

"I have a feeling it will be," Jim couldn't help but tease, "but I think you both need it. I think... I hope you'll be pleasantly surprised. Also, if he gets too huffy, kiss him. That always short circuits the brain." That advice was mostly teasing.

"That vould be an awful idea, he already gets a funny look on his face when I kiss him. I think if his brain short circuits any more then ve vill be in need of a new Sulu." Pasha said, only half joking about the expression he made.

That made him laugh, shaking his head. "Well consider it a tactical weapon in this case. Make sure you leave me enough pilot so we can get ourselves out of here!" He hesitated, then offered, "..you want me to talk to him?"

The offer threw her for a second before she shook her head. "No. I hawe to handle this myself, I can not rely on other people to solwe my problems for me." Pasha sighed softly "Besides, if I know Hikaru correctly he vill not stay angry vith me for that long."

His lips quirked. "There's a difference between relying on someone to solve your problem, and letting them help."

...

Bones, you would have flipped to hear me say that just now. He wasn't above knowing some of his own problems.

Pasha raised an eyebrow at that. "All the same, I vould rather handle it myself. Asking somebody else to help out is a bit juwinile. Almost like little children getting their friends to ask out their crush for them." She noted, not hat she'd actually ever had any experience of such an event, but she'd read about it.

Jim laughed just a little. "You're as bad as me," teasing gently. "So do it tonight." He thought about it. "What about something semi-romantic? Walk by the beach... oh!" He waved out towards the water. "Dinner on the beach? Picnic?" He waggled his brows, remembering every romantic thing he had done to get a girl in the past.

Pasha pulled a face. Romance stuff really wasn't stuff that she understood, being ever the practicality she would rather just sit down and have a frank conversation with somebody rather then trying to butter them up. That was why she often came off as blunt. "That seems horrifically chick-flick-ish." She noted.

"Works on girls?" Jim offered helpfully, then laughed. "He'd probably do better with you just talking to him, honestly."

"Thank God for that." Pasha could handle just talking, being direct and often tactless was her specialist skill at the end of the day.

"So go do it. Sitting around here talking to me isn't going to make things right." Jim smiled to her. "Just be ready for him to possibly be upset, but don't let him rag you out for doing something you couldn't help and were definitely allowed to do."

"You are right of course." Pasha nodded her acquiescent, standing up. "I vould rather he be upset." She noted once more before attempting a smile. "Thank you Jim, I appreciate your help, ewen though I am avare this vill not hawe been pleasant for you." The young navigator added before promptly turning on her heel and leaving the deck, she had no time to waste after all.

Jim sat back, hoping for the two of them that they could fix things between each other. They had to work together, and there was no better team at the helm in his opinion.
