Thanks! And it's not like crazy and bustling is bad, per se. But not for me and not at this time. I've been going non-stop since Mango's memorial service and I need time to slow down and take it easy.
Somehow, life seems to have developed to the point where if you're not constantly stimulating your child, you're considered a bad parent. But I'm firmly of the opinion that kids can get overloaded and don't need all the things all the time. Same with parents.
Take things easy over the holidays and enjoy your family time.
We also get side eyes from all the 4-7 year old parent set because they all have gymnastics, soccer, little league baseball, lego club, etc, and we have... none of those things. I mean we *think* about soccer & baseball occasionally and then decide fuck it because of the scheduling of it. And N doesn't miss what he doesn't have.
One of my USian FB chums has a 5 yr old son. When I read the updates about him, it worries me no end. Recently she was trying to bribe him to put his face in the water in swimming lessons so that he could go up to the next class. When I asked if it was a big problem whether he went up to the next class or stayed in this one until he was ready to put his face in the water, she almost shunned me.
