So, for the past month and a half I've been the assistant coach for an Ultimate (frisbee) team.  It's been really fun, and *I've* learned a lot.  My major contribution to the team has been to drive the bus (read: 15 passenger van that looks like a small bus) on occasions where the head coach needed to drive as well so that we'd fit all the players ( Read more... )

Today Dan and I took a wonderful bike ride!  We went a total of about 26 miles, and we made good time (1 hr 40 min) by chatting the whole way.  It was a great chance to catch up with each other, something we haven't done in a while.  I hope we do it again soon ( Read more... )

Well, that was kind of fun.  I played a one-day tournament in Manchester, CT today.  I went 4-2 with the help of a bye, and my spread was good enough to take second place!  I felt a little bad because not everyone got  a bye in my division.  Then again, I did beat the woman who came in third in the final game, while I lost to the woman who came in ( Read more... )

It's a nice feeling when biking home from school to have one of your students hang out of a car window to wave at you, and the parent wave out of the driver's side as they go by.  I guess I must be doing something right.

I'm very excited that March will bring my 10,000th day!  I think that's a pretty fun number. 

I really enjoy going to Scrabble Club.  I enjoy the chance to play games with fun people, interact with different generations, learn new words, teach strategy, help build/run an organization, talk with people outside my normal circle of friends, and see other people really get into and enjoy it.  I also like playing lots of words for lots of points ( Read more... )

I've biked 56 miles this year, 39 on my new bike.  I'm liking my new ride more.  It still needs adjustments, but I'm remembering how to ride a bike with multiple easily-reachable gears ( Read more... )

  We keep the apartment pretty chilly to save money... But I'll be in Florida tomorrow night!  Jenny's family is having a big to-do and she's pretty much required to go.  I get to meet a bunch of her extended family, though.  Right now, I'm working on packing games and juggling stuff.
