I can't handle it

Our wedding guest list keeps dwindling; with a week and a half still to go I don't know if anyone will show up on the actual day. I still can't get over how 193 invitees becomes 90 attendees, with former yesses becoming noes almost daily. I hope at least my parents can still be there. Who knows though, something IMPORTANT might come up ( Read more... )

What's wrong with those people! It's not like a wedding is a big deal or anything! >.<

I'm trying to maintain some perspective about this, but my emotions keep getting in the way. The people who WILL be there are the people I care about the most. The people who are dropping out are cousins I don't see very often, former co-workers, etc. I'm just mad because I would go to THEIRS if invited. In fact I HAVE gone to some of their weddings already.

Blech.

Do not worry about it.

My wife and I - of admittedly small family on my side, and very few of them could get to another country - only had about fifty people at ours. Not all of whom had a common language.

Some were people we only really invited out of politeness. Several people we really wanted there didn't come. One person - a friend I'd known for years - decided he Boyfriend's colleague's wedding was more important to her.

It went really well though.

Getting people to come to these things sucks. Just enjoy the day and whoever does actually come. And make sure someone embarrasses Eric (one day I will make it to Gencon and actually meet you guys...)

Eric will probably embarrass himself! If not, I'll see to it.

I think you should definitely make a trip to Gencon; I'm not a gamer and I had SO much fun. I can see why even casual gamers go into overload while there.

Don't feel bad; I think that's just sort of how it goes. We had a bunch of people decline too, and that's always disappointing...but you can always think of it as one less meal you have to pay for. :)

Yeah, it's hard because we're from two different towns. My family is here, his is there.

And we made up the difference by adding an ice cream sundae bar to the reception. It was out of our price range before.

I'm really looking forward to the day itself, and then going back to my normal self and normal level of sanity once it's over.
