I willed the mouth in the mirror to move. The edges drew up. The full, pouty lower lip pulled taut as the smile grew.
I did that. I made mirror me smile.
I did that.
I saw her smile the smile I’d seen seventy thousand times, if a day. But it was a charlatan staring at me. Her eyes, so empty, it made me weep.
