That's awesome that you're planning to write on incest and SPN -- I'm writing something on that too, and will definitely drop you a line. We can pick each other's brains! :D

Also, somebody else mentioned not liking it because the incest ramifications linger even after the sex/relationship-- this makes me like it even more. Hee. I'm not big on the happy endings. I'm basically the Queen of Angst.

Am over here from nutkin's journal and I just want to say that I want to MARRY YOUR BRAIN. I saw mention of your dissertation and since I'm doing mine on fandom and its relationship to slash, I was seeing if any more of your brain was available for picking and LO, I find this post. Utterly fascinating, and you really hit on a lot of the same points that make incest so compelling for me (albeit in a much more concise and coherent way than I could ever justify it). I was wondering if you'd mind if I quoted some of this in my dissertation, full credit given however you'd like it, of course, and to see if you had any advice from writing your own. We Aca-fen have to stick together. Feel free to tell me no if it's not cool, either way, thanks for such an articulate post!
