Mordred's switching sides was a bit sudden and had no real basis. His girlfriend was executed for treason and he was miffed. She was guilty and Arthur gave her a chance to save her skin. She didn't take it, and could be given points for loyalty, but it was her choice.
Tears were shed here too. Poor, lonely Merlin. His reason for living left in a small boat.
I had a lovely Christmas and hope you did too! 2013 will be brilliant for all of us!

Yep, the last season, sadly. It will be sorely missed next year and here's hoping the BBC comes up with something to equal it. It was beautifully written, acted and directed throughout.
It was originally aired on NBC but didn't get the ratings so moved to SyFy. I'll never understand why as it was a big ratings winner for the BBC at prime time Saturday. Different tastes, I guess.

I've not been watching Merlin, but Maz deals me the fic that she recommends so I feel like I really know these boys in all their incarnations. I'll be speaking to her on Skype on Sunday, so I'll hear all about the final episodes then, and wait for the fic that will surely follow! *g*
I hope you are doing well!
Huge hugs

Oh yes, there will be fic. Lots and lots of fic. One line: "Merlin, there's something I've always wanted to say to you." More or less. Fodder for the slash writers for years. *g*

I have to admit to being one of the crazy romantics who wanted to see Arthur actually survive to usher in the new Albion, but yes, the finale was really, really right.
I had hoped that the changes they made to the Gwen/Lancelot storyline meant that they intended Arthur and Gwen to have a happy ever after ending. It did start off in the Doctor Who time slot, after all. But when it moved to the later time, this year, and then went quite dark too, I wasn't really surprised. It was a perfect ending to the series and that final shot really emphasised that it was called 'Merlin' and was his story.
I'm seeing loads of Merlin-pining-for-a-millennium-or-more stories, which I am avoiding, but I do hope for some good reincarnation fic, soon. I've read a couple recently where re-born Arthur is working on a solution to global warming, which I think is a neat idea.
I hope you had a Merry Christmas and wish you a very Happy New Year. *hugs*

You and me both, hon, but it was never to be and we knew that. We were swimming against the tide. *g*
It did start off in the Doctor Who time slot, after all.
The Doctor doesn't have a great record in keeping partners.
As I said to Sparrow, there'll be a ton of fic based on that one line, most of it horrible but hopefully some good!
I got a tablet and hubby had his Chrissie dinner cooked for him when he's the main family cook. He's a very happy bunny. LOL! *huggles*
