have you read the sabriel/lirael/abhorsen trilogy by garth nix? I also liked the dark is rising sequence by susan cooper, but both of those series are young adult fantasy. jacqueline carey's kushiel trilogy is good if you can make it past the first half of the first book. I'd also recommend Nina Kiriki Hoffman and Connie Willis, but neither of them have actual series out.
Well I LOVE Dark is Rising in an obsessive little-kid kind of a way. I have read "To Say Nothing of the Dog" by Connie Willis, which I also loved (I am kind of obsessed with books that parallel/are all about other books), but her other stuff looked weird/boring. I will try this Hoffman and this Nix. Right now I am reading "Fall of Hyperion" but I think the author is laying it on a little too thick!
