bored...

I finished The Hobbit last week and I am reading the first book of Lord of the Rings right now. But I am so bored... I miss seeing people. Maybe I will go to the library and read my novels tomorrow and next week. I guess this is a little weird, but it should be understandable if you realize that I am from China, a place where you can see people ( Read more... )

I get like that too when I don't see anyone for a long time. The Lord of the Rings isn't the way to cure boredom, either. I don't know. Maybe I'm just dumb, but I tried to read those books again and I couldn't get through them.
Unfortunately, I don't think I'm going to be able to make it this weekend because it's my grandmother's birthday, so I guess I won't see you guys before I leave. But I think I'll be back for a week or two around Christmas, so I'll drive up then unless I end up not coming back for some reason (like if I'm too poor for a ticket).

Well, I like the Hobbit a lot and I think it was easy for me to finish it. As for the first book of The Lord of the Rings, I find it easy till I got to the part where the hobbits were lost in the forest and had to spend some time with that Tom guy. I think maybe it is because there was too many detailed description of the forest and the plot was kind of slow... we will see. Now i am on the part where they finally met Aragon(?). I am looking forward to seeing Gandolf soon.

Gandolf makes the book a lot better. Tom confused the crap out of me, if I remember (although I was like ten when I read it). I really think the Hobbit is a much better book in a lot of ways, although I guess I can see the appeal of the complexity of Lord of the Rings. It just seems like a lot of work to go through for a fantasy book.

Yeah, i totally agree about the length issue. I already finished the first book and I was on one quarter place for the second book. I don't think i would continue though. School will start soon. The dark days are coming.
