Rhysling votes

I'll be scooting my envelope in at the last minute (the voting deadline is tomorrow's postmark), but I just finished reading through the Rhysling anthology and figuring out my votes. There have been years where I didn't nominate nor vote for a poem in the long category.

It's no secret that I prefer very, very short poetry (which doesn't explain what sort of quantum madness caused me to end up with a long poem nominee of my own this year).

On the other hand, for the 2000 Rhysling I nominated Geoff Landis's "Christmas (after we all get time machines)" which ended up actually winning, so I do occasionally find some long poems that grab me.

Personally, I think anything over 40 lines should be in the long poem category....but that's just me, I think.

In any case, since you voted for the 2nd and 3rd place winners in the category and *almost* voted for the winner, it's good you voted. Perhaps your vote helped those poems place where they did.

yeah, when I saw how close the votes were, I wondered about that! Kind of startling to realise how much influence one voter can have when the pool is small enough.

oh, yay! I'm glad to be making happy people who wrote nifty poems that made *me* happy to read :) I'm glad people are stumbling on the post.
