Oh, that is so perfect! Just the right combination of wistful longing and loneliness and sweetness, and the promise of comfort to come. And I do love those gargoyles, as well, watching over everything.

This is just exactly what I needed.

And perhaps you could call it simply "Fall," for the season you portray so poignantly and for the suggestion of movement from up there in that lonely place to being caught by one who understands who you are.

Aw! This had me tearing up... but in a good way! I don't much care for the idea of growing old. But growing old with Severus... he would make it quite bearable. Even without the voice.

So beautiful in its imagery of the most vibrant season. Yet your words, Kizzy, capture the sadness that sometimes comes with growing older. Severus is lucky to have a spunky, younger wife to provide a swift kick in the arse to get him out of his melancholy, self-pity party. Great ending, too.

They provide the perfect balance, I think, for a proper happily ever after. Even if Sev is still prone to his darker thoughts. Thank you!
